Overview
Standby Healthcare were commissioned to provide a consistent 2:1 staffing support package for an elderly resident living in a residential care setting, with advanced dementia and behaviours that presented as challenging.
The individual's changing needs required experienced support workers, consistency of staffing and close collaboration with he care home to ensure safe, consistent and person-centred care could not be delivered.
Our Approach
We worked alongside the care home to build a dedicated, skilled team of experienced healthcare assistants who could provide consistent care whilst adapting to the individual's daily needs.
Through our consultants careful rota planning, specialist staff selection and ongoing communication with he wider care team, we delivered a flexible support package that promoted dignity, reduced distress and created a calmer environment for both he individual and those around them.
Going Forward
As trust developed through consistency of a select staffing team, the individuals wellbeing and engagement improved, allowing the support package to evolve alongside their changing needs.
The enhanced stability reduced the ratio of support required over time, demonstrating the positive impact that consistency in care can have.
